JERUSALEM, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Guangzhou R&F midfielder Dia Saba is expected to leave the Chinese club immediately and become the first Israeli to play in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Israeli media reported on Thursday.
Widespread reports in the Israeli media suggest the 27-year-old will join Dubai's Al-Nasr SC, who play in the UAE Pro League.
Israel and the UAE agreed to formally normalize their relations in mid-August and signed a normalization agreement at the White House on September 15.
According to reports, Saba will sign for three seasons at his new club, earning about 3 million U.S. dollars per year.
Saba joined Guangzhou R&F in January 2019 and scored 18 goals in 36 appearances.
At the Chinese club he collaborated with his compatriot Eran Zahavi, who recently joined Dutch side PSV Eindhoven. Enditem
