BOGOTA, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- The COVID-19 infections in Colombia rose to 855,052 in the past 24 hours after tests detected 6,905 new cases, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection said Sunday.
The country's death toll climbed to 26,712 after 156 more fatalities were reported over the past day.
A total of 761,674 patients have recovered, the ministry added.
The Department of Antioquia reported the highest number of daily cases with 2,111 infections, bringing its total cases to 120,226.
The Colombian government extended the selective quarantine phase till the end of October in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Enditem
