TASHKENT, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- The presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan held a telephone conversation and stressed the need for an early normalization of the situation in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbek president's press service said Thursday.

Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov discussed the latest developments in Kyrgyzstan, stressing the need for a peaceful settlement of the situation in accordance with the country's constitution, the press service said in a statement.

The two leaders also discussed the current bilateral agenda, paying special attention to the need to promote projects in trade, industrial cooperation, energy, transit and others, the statement added.

Mirziyoyev also discussed the situation in neighboring Kyrgyzstan with the heads of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Russia a day before.

Early this week Uzbekistan's foreign ministry expressed concern over the political situation in Kyrgyzstan, hoping for the earliest possible stabilization.
