ISLAMABAD, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Police in northwest Pakistan said on Friday that unidentified armed men torched military vehicles that were being sent to NATO troops in neighboring Afghanistan.
Police in Khyber district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province said that unidentified men burnt four NATO military vehicles loaded on two trailers.
No one was hurt in the incident as the attackers asked the drivers to leave the area, police and witnesses said.
The U.S. and NATO allies have been using Pakistan as a main supply route for thousands of their troops.
There had been a lull in attacks on NATO vehicles and Friday's attack occurred after a long time.
Police said the gunmen first opened fire and then torched the vehicles. Firefighters were called who extinguished the fire.
Officials said security forces arrived in the area and conducted a search operation, but no one was arrested.
No group claimed responsibility for the incident.
Khyber district, which is one of Pakistan's seven tribal districts, borders Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province.
Torkham, the major border crossing with Afghanistan, is located in Khyber district and NATO forces routinely use this route for supply. Enditem
