BISHKEK, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan elected Talant Mamytov, a deputy from the Republic-Ata Zhurt faction, as the new speaker of parliament on Wednesday.
The majority of deputies voted for Mamytov, who will replace Kanatbek Isaev, after the latter resigned in order to run in the early presidential elections scheduled for Jan. 10, 2021.
As of Wednesday, five candidates have applied for participation in the early presidential elections, according to the country's Central Election Commission.
Acting President and Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov also announced his intention to participate in the elections. However, he must resign in order to participate. Enditem
