Bayer Leverkusen beats Israel's Hapoel Beer Sheva in Europa League

JERUSALEM, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Israeli outfit Hapoel Beer Sheva lost at home 4-2 to German side Bayer Leverkusen at Group C of the UEFA Europa League.

The match played behind closed doors in the central city of Petah Tikva, opened strongly for the visitors, who scored in the 5th minute by Jamaican forward Leon Bailey, after an accurate pass by Florian Wirtz.

Beer Sheva responded after just six minutes, leveling the score with a shot from the left-wing by Dutch striker Elton Acolatse.

The home side completed a turnover in the 25th minute, with an impressive effort by Acolatse, who overcame two defenders and goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky to make it 2-1.

Leverkusen equalized in the 39th minute, with an unfortunate own goal by Or Dadya, who headed the ball into the Israeli net.

The visiting team's third goal was scored in the 76th minute, when Bailey's header found the net, with the help of Beer Sheva's goalkeeper Ohad Levita who failed to gain control of the ball.

Wirtz made it 4-2 in the 88th minute, after a pass by substitute Moussa Diaby.

After matchday 3, Czech side Slavia Prague tops the four-team group with 6 points, after a 3-2 win over French club Nice.

Leverkusen currently holds second place with 6 points as well, followed by Nice and Beer Sheva who gained 3 points each.
