NEW DELHI, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- At least five people were killed and several others injured Thursday in a blast at a plastic factory in India's eastern state of West Bengal, police said.
The blast took place in the Sujapur area of Malda district, about 337 km north of Kolkata, the capital city of West Bengal.
"A blast went off inside a plastic factory this morning triggering devastating fire," a police official said. "Five people were killed and several others injured in the blast."
Following the incident firefighters and fire tenders rushed to the spot to fight the flame.
"The rescue work is underway," the police official said.
Authorities have ordered an investigation into the incident to ascertain the cause of the blast. Enditem
