ZHUJI, China, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Dallas Moore's 3-pointer in the dying time helped the Guangzhou Loong Lions beat the Xinjiang Flying Tigers 93-90 in the 2020-21 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Friday.
Facing Xinjiang, Guo Kai hit jumpers to give Guangzhou a 24-17 lead. Xinjiang wisely adjusted tack that attacked the basket in the second quarter with plenty of success, using an 18-2 run to outscore Guangzhou 41-31.
However, Xinjiang suffered a scoring drought in the third quarter, and coach Adiljan seemed couldn't find a way to limit Guangzhou center Isaac Haas, who dominated inside the area and led Guangzhou to an 18-2 run to regain control.
"They came out with more energy and we couldn't play on our way. That's my fault," said Adiljan.
Guangzhou were up by 17 to start the fourth quarter before Xinjiang used a 24-5 run to pull back. Guangzhou got frustrated in that stretch, but Dallas Moore made a 3-pointer with 3.7 seconds left, helping Guangzhou edge out Xinjiang.
"I'm proud of our team and everybody gave everything on the court," said Guangzhou coach Guo Shiqiang. "And we could compete with any team as long as we stay confident."
Five Guangzhou players were in double-digit, while Marreese Speights contributed 21 points and 12 rebounds, and Donatas Motiejunas had 26 points and 11 rebounds for Xinjiang. Enditem
