KUWAIT CITY, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait will hold the parliamentary elections on Saturday, the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) said Friday.
The voting process will start from 8 a.m. and proceed until 8 p.m. local time, during which Kuwaitis will vote to elect 50 members of Parliament for the 16th legislative term from more than 300 candidates running for the elections, KUNA said.
The Kuwaiti Education Ministry has selected 102 schools across the country to receive voters during the elections, KUNA said, adding that the government has formed five field teams distributed in the five electoral zones of the country to monitor all activities throughout the elections.
The government will also take strict health precautions during the voting process, including limited groups' gathering outside and inside the polling stations, wearing masks, sterilizing hands and wearing gloves.
In addition, medical clinics are also designated to preserve the health and safety of voters.
According to Abdullah Al-Sanad, the Kuwaiti Health Ministry's spokesman, voters who are infected with the coronavirus or those who are quarantined need to get a permit through an app before going to polling stations.
A number of schools have been designated to receive only the voters infected with the coronavirus, the spokesman said. Enditem
