ZHUJI, China, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Liaoning Flying Leopards overwhelmed the Jilin Northeast Tigers 112-91 to establish a five-game winning streak in the second phase of the 2020-21 Chinese Basketball Association league on Friday.
Following the win, Liaoning kept hold of the first place in the league's standings, while Jilin sit 4th. Guo Ailun scored a game-high 22 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists for Liaoning, while Zhao Jiwei pocketed 15 points and 5 assists. O.J. Mayo contributed 17 points.
Zhang Zhenlin, 21, become the dark horse of the game to help Liaoning widen the gap. He had 16 points and 6 rebounds.
Jilin took the upper hand from the start but failed to keep the advantage. Leading scorer Jiang Yuxing was forced to leave the field injured. Liaoning overtook the lead since the second quarter, thanks to three-pointers from Guo Ailun and O.J. Mayo. Jilin managed to narrow the gap but Liaoning kept their lead to the end.
Six players scored double digits for Jilin but they lost to Liaoning 112-91 at last.
Jilin head coach Wang Han said that the team was lack of rebounds controlling, to offer many opportunities to bounce back for the opponent.
