ZHUJI, China, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Marcus Georges-Hunt notched a game-high 42 points as the Sichuan Blue Whales came from behind to beat the Zhejiang Lions 112-110 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Monday.
Zhejiang obtained a four-point lead after Miroslav Radulica made a jump shot to make it 110-106 with 2:02 left.
Then Hunt came out strongly for Sichuan, first making a free throw and then hitting a 3-pointer from the baseline to tie it 110-110 with 1:10 remaining.
Zhu Songwei's layup was fouled by Feng Xin and he made both free throws for Sichuan to make it 112-110 with 43.2 seconds left.
Zhejiang had a good opportunity to win after center Hu grabbed a decisive offensive rebound, but Li Jinlong missed the 3-pointer.
"Today was a team win. We played together. We shared the ball. Everybody looks like they had fun," said Hunt.
Hunt also contributed a game-high 11 rebounds, while Su Ruoyu added 16 points for Sichuan.
Hu Jinqiu led Zhejiang with 34 points and 10 rebounds, while Sun Minghui got 27 points and 12 assists.
Zhejiang took a 27-16 lead with 3:16 minutes remaining in the first quarter before Sichuan bounced back with a 12-0 run to overtake.
Hunt was unstoppable in the second quarter. The 26-year-old guard notched 15 points, five rebounds and three assists in the quarter, giving Sichuan a 63-54 lead at the half-time break.
Zhejiang stormed into a 12-4 run early in the third quarter to cut the deficit but failed to overtake, and Sichuan led 85-83 going into the last period.
"Compared with the game we played against the defending champion Guangdong on Saturday, our players didn't keep their focus on the court all the time. We need to make some adjustments," said Zhejiang head coach Li Chunjiang. Enditem
