SAO PAULO -- Brazil registered 69,826 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking its national total to 7,110,434, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.
The ministry said that 1,092 more patients have died, raising the death toll to 184,827.

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 1,062 more cases of COVID-19 as of midnight Thursday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 47,515.
The daily caseload stayed above 1,000 for three straight days for the first time, with a record daily high of 1,078 on Wednesday and 1,014 on Thursday each.

HAVANA -- Cuba's gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to plunge 11 percent in 2020, Deputy Prime Minister Alejandro Gil Fernandez said Thursday.
He said the country's GDP was affected by the substantial drop in foreign trade, international tourism and foreign exchange earnings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the ongoing U.S. embargo against the island.

BEIJING -- A total of nine COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on the Chinese mainland Thursday, the National Health Commission said in a daily report Friday.
There were 304 confirmed cases still being treated, including eight in severe conditions, the report showed. Enditem
