BUENOS AIRES, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- Sebastian Beccacece, coach of Argentinian side Racing Club, announced his departure from the team on Saturday.

Beccacece stated that he will leave after the completion of the Diego Armando Maradona Cup, the Argentinian domestic competition, which still has three games left.

"On the one hand, I would like to continue with this project, but I have decided and have informed the squad that once this tournament is over, I will not continue at the institution," Beccacece said at a virtual press conference.

Beccacece explained that since the club's manager, Diego Milito, has already said that he will leave, he will follow suit, as he arrived to the club under his management.

Racing suffered a severe setback on Wednesday when they were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores by Boca Juniors.

"With all the pain that it entails, we will not continue at the club," said Beccacece, who acted as assistant to then-Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Beccacece, who came to Racing from rivals Independiente, led the team during 26 games, with 11 wins, seven draws, and eight defeats. Enditem
