BEIJING, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- GAC Honda and Dongfeng Honda, two of the Japanese automaker's joint ventures in China, have issued a massive recall of vehicles due to possible fuel pump failure, according to the country's top quality watchdog.
The recall, set to begin on March 31, 2021, will involve a total of 1.09 million vehicles including models like Acura, Civic, Jade, among others, said a statement on the website of the State Administration for Market Regulation.
The defective impeller may swell and deform and come in contact with the fuel pump housing, causing the fuel pump to work improperly. This could lead to the stalling of the engine while the car is moving in extreme cases, the statement said.
The two companies promised to replace defective parts free of charge, according to the statement. Enditem
