Dong Yue, the secretary of the Hedong village branch of the Communist Party of China, plays with his daughter after a day's work in the woods of Hedong Village in Yiyuan County, east China's Shandong Province, Sept. 10, 2020. The 35-year-old Dong Yue was dispatched to the village to take on this responsibility from the water conservancy bureau of Zibo City in 2019. With no one in the family to help them take care of their daughter Dong Zaiyi, Dong Yue and his wife, who is a teacher, decided to take turns to look after the girl. During the week of Dong Yue's turn, he always brings his daughter to the village and takes her everywhere he goes. In the day time, the girl accompanies her father to visit villagers, and during the night, Dong Yue takes care of his daughter as carefully as a mother. A year passed by, Dong Zaiyi witnessed the construction of village roads and a cultural square, as well as other improvements under the lead of her father. For Dong Yue and Dong Zaiyi, life in the village was sometimes hard but always full and meaningful. This special experience is likely to become one of the most unforgettable memories in their life.
