BEIJING, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese procuratorial authorities in 2020 charged more than 138,000 individuals with internet-related crimes, according to the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP).
That number accounted for approximately 8.8 percent of all crimes prosecuted last year, a year-on-year increase of 3.6 percentage points, read an SPP statement.
To address the rising trend of internet-related crime in recent years, particularly since the outbreak of COVID-19, the SPP has established a special guiding group targeting such crimes and a research center for related theories. Enditem
