TIRANA, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Montenegrin authorities announced on Tuesday plans to allow all international travellers, including Albanians, to enter the country without the need of a negative Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test in the border starting from Jan. 12.
Montenegrin authorities announced the measure after months of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to Albania's Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEFA) on Tuesday.
This new regulation of Montenegro will be valid until a second decision, MEFA said in a statement.
The move came one day after Albania kicked off its vaccination campaign against COVID-19.
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama was the second candidate to get the vaccine shot on Monday together with 50 health professionals.
On Tuesday, the vaccination program is expected to continue with other 60 health professionals.
According to Albanian health authorities, the first group to receive the vaccine will be around 5,000 health workers, followed by the elderly people.
Up to date, Albania has a total of 63,971 confirmed coronavirus cases, with 37,981 recoveries and 1,247 fatalities since the beginning of the pandemic. Enditem
