VIENTIANE, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- The death toll for road accidents throughout Laos reached 1,031 in 2020, with the majority of accidents caused by drunk or reckless driving.
According to the latest report by the Traffic Police Department of the Lao Ministry of Public Security, 1,031 people were killed in road accidents across the country in 2020, while 10,027 injuries were recorded.
There were 6,774 road crashes across the country, with 12,007 vehicles were damaged.
The Lao capital Vientiane reported the highest number of crashes with 1,155 accidents which resulted in the deaths of 190.
The cost of the damage incurred was estimated at 103 billion Lao kip (over 11 million U.S. dollars), according to the report. Enditem
