File photo taken on July 10, 2020 shows members of the Nanhai No. 1 Flying Service of Ministry of Transport, an air rescue and aid team, pulling a stranded person out of waters around Maoming City, south China's Guangdong Province. Critical moments of life or death are of a common memory to all members of the air rescue and aid team. As the only state-run force of air rescue and aid over waters around south China, the team has brought 94 people back to safety in 2020 alone. Amid each onslaught of typhoon when all ships haste home, rescue helicopters of the team always dash toward the eye of the storm, nicknamed "magic eagle" by local fishermen. Team members will still be on the watch, away from their families, at their base in Sanya during the upcoming Spring Festival holiday. "There is a mishap behind every need for rescue," said Captain Wang Chunping, "and it is our ultimate wish that everyone caught up there return home for a safe Spring Festival." (Xinhua/Zhang Liyun)
