Yang Ziying gives instruction to COVID-19 vaccine recipients at a community vaccination center in Haidian District of Beijing, capital of China, Feb. 8, 2021. Yang Ziying is a community worker based in Haidian District of Beijing. In 2020, the 24-year-old became the youngest member in her community's COVID-19 prevention and control team, which aims at bringing residents' life and work to normal amid the pandemic. Although the 2021 Spring Festival is just around the corner and returning to one's hometown has been the tradition, Yang opts to stay put in Beijing rather than going back to her hometown Liaoyang in the northeast, in support of a government recommendation not to make unnecessary trips during the holiday to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The decision is a tough one, since Yang had never missed a Spring Festival family reunion before. "To say I don't want to go home is tantamount to telling a lie," Yang says. "But both my parents have got my back, believing that I should make contributions at this very moment." During the holiday, Yang and her team mates will make preparations for the upcoming COVID-19 inoculation planned after the Spring Festival. In an alternative way, our photographers arranged a long-distance reunion for the Yang family. (Xinhua/Ren Chao)
