Combo photo shows Fu Baoyin holding his son making a hand heart gesture with his wife at their home in Yuzhong District, southwest China's Chongqing, Feb. 10, 2021 (R, photo taken by Huang Wei), and his mother Zhong Shihui making a hand heart gesture in Yangshulin Township of Nong'an County, Changchun, northeast China's Jilin Province, Feb. 9, 2021 (L, photo taken by Zhang Nan). Fu Baoyin, a railway conductor in Chongqing, has been through the seventh Spring Festival travel rush since he started work, also the seventh Spring Festival that he was unable to spend with his family in Jilin. He had planned to take his wife and the newly-born baby back to his hometown this year. But in response to the call to celebrate the festival locally, he decided to stay in Chongqing and stick to his post for the Spring Festival travel rush. As a part of the preventative measures against COVID-19, China has encouraged people to stay locally for the Chinese New Year. Many Chinese chose not to go back to their hometowns for family gatherings, opting instead to stay where they were for the most important holiday of the year. Xinhua reporters helped those who didn't go back to their hometowns "reunite" with their families in pictures. (Xinhua)
