Asia Album: Fewer elephants this year, but more festive vibes in Sri Lanka's Navam Full Moon Poya Day

COLOMBO, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Performers and elephants gathered at the Gangaramaya Temple on Friday to take part in the annual Navam Perahera in Sri Lanka.

The Navam Full Moon Poya Day, a traditional Buddhist festival in the country, is celebrated in February every year at Colombo's famous Buddhist temple Gangarama Temple.

The authorities have reduced the number of dancers and elephants participanting in the parade this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with only a dozen elephants participating in the parade.
