ZHUJI, China, March 8 (Xinhua) -- The Jiangsu Dragons edged the Zhejiang Lions 116-112 in the 43rd round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Monday, although Hu Jinqiu got a game-high 36 points and 13 rebounds for the latter.
Starting the game with 10-0, Jiangsu got a 27-16 lead in the first quarter, before the Lions cut the deficit to only one point in the following period.
With Dez Wells scoring 15 points in the last quarter, Jiangsu came from 94-89 down and turned the tables to end their 14-game losing streak.
Wells finished with 27 points and 11 rebounds for Jiangsu, Wu Guanxi had 26 points and 14 rebounds, and Shi Hongfei collected 22 points.
Besides the big contribution from Hu, Sun Minghui collected 24 points for Zhejiang, and Zhao Yanhao added 22 points.
The defending champions Guangdong Southern Tigers lost to the runners-up Liaoning Flying Leopards 124-115 in overtime.
Trailing behind for most of the four quarters, Guangdong tied the game 107-107 just before the buzzer, after Sonny Weems got two points from the free-throw line.
Point guard Guo Ailun continued his shining performance to help Liaoning nail the victory, snapping Guangdong's 15-game winning streak.
Zhang Zhenlin buried eight 3-pointers out of 14 and collected 46 points for Liaoning, Guo took 28 points and 14 assists, and Zhao Jiwei added 14 points.
For the Guangdong side, Weems finished with 35 points and 15 rebounds, Hu Mingxuan got 20 points and Xu Jie contributed 18 points.
Wang Zhelin, Fujian Sturgeons' center, pocketed 17 points on Monday, but his team lost to the Shandong Heroes 115-107, as Lester Hudson grabbed 28 points for the winner.
