TUNIS, March 16 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese tech giant Huawei on Tuesday organized the Huawei Tunisia Talent Day event in Tunis, capital of the North African country.

The event was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Tunisia Zhang Jianguo, Tunisian Minister of Communications Technology Mohamed Fadhel Kraiem and General Manager of Huawei Tunisia Lin Xingshuo.

At the opening of the event, Zhang said Huawei has been operating in Tunisia since 1999, and has built a strong talent ecosystem in the country through its pioneering programs such as Huawei ICT Academy, Future Seeds and the annual training.

"The world has entered the digital age. Countries are aware that they need to seize the historic opportunities to achieve green and sustainable development," the Chinese ambassador added.

"Africa's digital economy can be a support for promoting transformation, solving social problems, managing livelihoods and building smart government management, and the ICT talents will certainly play a very important and necessary role in this action," he noted.

For his part, the Tunisian minister Kraiem told Xinhua that the talent day organized by Huawei is "in line with Tunisia's strategic vision, which for years has focused on young talents in technology projects."

According to Kraiem, Huawei has launched and concluded more than 50 agreements or initiatives in Tunisia in collaboration with the country's academic sector.

The year 2021 marks the 57th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tunisia. Enditem
