ADDIS ABABA, March 29 (Xinhua) -- The Ethiopian Federal Police Commission disclosed the arrest of 359 people on suspicion of murder, illicit arms trade, money laundering and auto theft, the state-affiliated Fana Broadcasting Corporate reported Sunday.
According to the law enforcement organization, some 135 of the suspects were arrested on suspicion of having links with the attack committed by the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) on the Ethiopian National Defense Forces in November last year.
Seven detainees are said to be members of the Oromo Liberation Front-Shene group, who the Ethiopian government frequently accused of perpetrating armed attacks.
The remaining ones were arrested for alleged involvement in various criminal activities.
In November last year, the Ethiopian government conducted military operations against forces loyal to the TPLF, who used to rule over Ethiopia's northernmost Tigray regional state and attacked the Northern command base of the Ethiopian Defense Force in Mekelle city, capital of Tigray.
Following Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's announcement concerning the completion of the military operations against the TPLF, police have been hunting those participating in the TPLF attack. Enditem
