Ukraine to order 10 mln doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine

KIEV, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian health ministry has signed a framework agreement with Pfizer on the supply of 10 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said on Wednesday.

"The Pfizer vaccine will be in Ukraine! We expect the first shipments under this contract to start in the coming months. And all 10 million doses will be delivered in 2021," Stepanov said in a briefing.

According to Stepanov, Ukraine has signed contracts for the supply of 22 million doses of vaccines in total, of which the country will receive 8 million doses under the global COVAX initiative and another 14 million doses in accordance with direct contracts.

Mass vaccination against the coronavirus started in Ukraine on Feb. 24.

As of Wednesday, 320,265 people had been vaccinated in Ukraine.

A total of 1,784,579 COVID-19 cases and 35,498 deaths have been registered in Ukraine, while 1,373,851 patients have recovered, according to health authorities. Enditem
