The COVID-19 pandemic is changing people's lifestyles.

While some find convenient ways to cope with life, others worry about the change of habits.

In southeast France's Saint-Etienne, bookstore director Remi Boute had to close his shop in March 2020.

Now he felt relieved as his bookstore reopens.

But worries linger as he fears customers will shift to the internet to buy books.

Meanwhile, e-commerce has flourished in France.

In 2020, the share of online sales in retail rose from 9.8 percent to 13.4 percent year-on-year.

That is the equivalent of three to four years' growths combined in a single year.

Apart from shopping online, people also adapt to working from home.

Figures from the French Ministry of Labor show, among 1,300 companies it surveyed, 66 percent of the companies implemented teleworking.

France entered a third national lockdown last weekend as COVID-19 patients gradually fill up intensive care beds in hospitals and the accumulative death toll nears 100,000.

It plans to speed up its vaccination program.

More than 10 million people have received the first COVID-19 vaccine dose in the country.

The French government aims to administer 20 million jabs by mid-May and to inoculate a total of 30 million, or two-thirds of the adults in the country, by mid-June.

In 2020, the French economy shrank by 8.3 percent, the worst recession since World War II.

The French economy is expected to grow by 5 percent in 2021, according to Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy, Finance and the Recovery.
