JAKARTA, April 30 (Xinhua) -- The main structure of the first station building for the Jakarta-Bandung high speed railway was roofed over on Friday, the railway's operator said.
A statement released by KCIC, a joint venture consortium between Chinese and Indonesian state-owned firms that runs the 142.3-km high speed railway, said, "All the Chinese and Indonesian staff have worked hard as a team" to overcome the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and successfully roofed over the main structure of the Tegalluar station building.
The Tegalluar station located on the outskirts of West Java Province's capital city Bandung has been built since March 1 last year.
KCIC said the Tegalluar station is the terminal station of the Jakarta-Bandung high speed railway, and it is the only station on the entire line built by a Chinese company.
According to KCIC, the station complex building is designed to have a two-story concrete frame and one steel structure on the top.
Structures planned for the station also include a passenger corridor and a footbridge among other facilities.
With a design speed of 350 km per hour, the high speed railway is expected to cut the journey between the Indonesian capital Jakarta and Bandung from more than three hours to around 40 minutes. Enditem
