COLOMBO, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Authorities in Sri Lanka imposed a travel restriction to prevent a further spread of the COVID-19 virus which has infected over 50,000 people in the past one month.

Sri Lanka's total death toll from the COVID-19 virus reached 1,133 on Saturday after the country recorded its highest single-day death toll of 44 deaths the previous day, statistics from the Health Ministry showed.
