CAIRO, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani discussed on Tuesday means of promoting bilateral ties, as well as regional and international issues.
The meeting aims to discuss the "positive developments in bilateral relations between the two countries in light of the Al-Ula declaration," Ahmed Hafez, spokesperson of Egypt's Foreign Ministry, said in a statement.
Egypt signed in January the Al-Ula declaration at the 41st Gulf Cooperation Council Summit, which ended a boycott on Qatar by the Arab quartet which includes Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
Hafez said that "the meeting tackled the importance of building on this important step, by taking further measures aimed at strengthening the positive atmosphere in the coming period."
The talks also touched upon the importance of investing in the two countries, he added.
The Egyptian and the Qatari diplomats also discussed ways to advance the mechanisms of joint Arab action to face regional challenges. Enditem
