BELGRADE, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Novak Djokovic defeated world No. 255 Alex Molcan 6-4, 6-3 in the final of the Belgrade Open tournament in his hometown on Saturday to lift his 83rd ATP trophy.
Following fierce resistance from Molcan in the first set, the world No. 1 managed to change the tempo and win his 20th match this season.
After the match, Djokovic said he was satisfied with playing in front of a crowd after a long time, and was pleased to lift his first trophy in Belgrade after 10 years.
A month ago, Djokovic was eliminated in the semifinals of the Serbia Open, also an ATP 250 tournament, by Aslan Karatsev.
With 83 career titles, Djokovic is the fifth-most successful player of all time, only behind Rafael Nadal (88), Ivan Lendl (94), Roger Federer (103) and Jimmy Connors (109).
Jonathan Erlich and Andrei Vasilevski won the Belgrade Open double trophy on Friday, defeating Andre Gorranson and Rafael Matos 6-4, 6-1.
The Belgrade Open was held from May 23. 28 players competed in the singles, along with 16 in the doubles at the Novak Tennis Centre for a prize fund of 511,000 Euros. Enditem
