SYDNEY, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) CEO Matt Carroll said Australia will send a "very committed" team to the Beijing Winter Olympic Games in 2022.

Carroll told a press conference here on Tuesday that the AOC has been planning the Australian team to go for Beijing 2022, and same procedures for the summer Games would apply to winter Games including vaccination for the athletes. The AOC will also work very closely with the government to ensure the athletes can get to overseas competitions.

"The team will be selected in due course...It won't be the largest team, but certainly a very committed team. And with our new ski slope opened up in Queensland, we expected to do quite well with the Games as well. So we're looking forward to the Beijing Games in 2022," Carroll said.

Australia has won a total of 15 medals at the Winter Olympics, with five gold, five silver and five bronze medals.

Carroll also expressed "great anticipation" for Brisbane's bid for the 2032 Olympic Games, which will get final scrutiny from the International Olympics Committee (IOC) members prior to the start of the Tokyo Olympic Games.

"So we will wait for that election. We wait with great anticipation, because we always feel we're going to get there. But it's up to the individual International Olympic Committee members to elect the host for 2032," he said. Enditem
