VALLETTA, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Fully vaccinated people do not need to wear their masks outdoors as from July 1, Malta's Health Ministry announced on Friday.

They are still required to wear masks in indoor public spaces. Children under 12 can remove their masks as long as they are with vaccinated people.

As the country has seen very low numbers of new infections for consecutive days, the ministry said the government was also extending the opening hours of restaurants, band clubs and snack bars by two hours to 2 a.m. as from Monday, as long as their license allows it. Under the current measures, establishments are required to close at midnight.

Also starting Monday, sea transport vessels can increase their passengers to 65 percent of their licensed capacity while waterparks will be allowed to reopen.

The ministry also lifted the restriction on contact sports for children under the age of 17 and on fitness classes, which can now be organized in line with protocols issued by health authorities. Enditem
