SYDNEY, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Quiet and empty streets are seen in Australia's most populous city Sydney amid lockdown.

As the COVID-19 infections in Australian state of New South Wales continue to surge, state authorities have declared the outbreak a national emergency, calling for redirection of national vaccine supplies.
