ZHENGZHOU, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- The central Chinese city of Zhengzhou had reported 13 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases and 50 asymptomatic cases by 6 p.m. Monday in the latest resurgence of COVID-19, local authorities said Monday.
The resurgence emerged after an asymptomatic case was reported in the Erqi district of the capital city of Henan Province on Friday, said the leading municipal group for COVID-19 prevention and control.
All the confirmed cases were mild or moderate, it said.
The first two cases were highly homologous with confirmed imported cases from Myanmar under treatment at the sixth people's hospital of Zhengzhou. They were infected with the highly infectious Delta variant of the coronavirus, the viral genome sequencing indicated.
Most of the 63 infections were related to the sixth people's hospital of Zhengzhou. The few that do not have clear relations there either live nearby the hospital or once traveled around the hospital, the leading group said. Enditem
