TUNIS, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian President Kais Saied on Thursday received Abdullah Hussein Al-Lafi, a member of the Libyan Presidency Council, who expressed firm support to the Tunisian leader amid the political crisis.
Al-Lafi affirmed the Libyan council's "absolute support" for Saied's decisions announced on July 25 to sack the prime minister and suspend the Tunisian parliament, the Tunisian presidency said in a statement.
"Al-Lafi reaffirmed the full solidarity of the Libyans with the Tunisian people and their support for Tunisians' aspirations for growth and development," it added.
Saied expressed the hope to consolidate Tunisian ties with Libya, while underlining his determination to strengthen the bilateral cooperation to face all attempts to threaten their security, stability, unity and sovereignty.
On July 25, Saied announced that he had removed Hichem Mechichi from the post of prime minister and suspended all activities of the Assembly of People's Representatives, or the parliament. Enditem
