FARAH, Afghanistan, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Four police were confirmed dead and two others injured after a group of Taliban fighters stormed a police checkpoint in the relatively peaceful Lash Wa Juwayn district of Afghanistan's western Farah province on Wednesday, deputy to Provincial Council Shah Mahmoud Naemi said Thursday.
Taliban militants have also suffered casualties in the firefight, Naemi added.
Neither Taliban nor the police have made comment on the report.
