Direct air route links ancient Chinese capital with Japan's Shizuoka

XI'AN, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Xi'an, an ancient Chinese capital known for the Terracotta Warriors, opened a new direct air route to the Japanese city of Shizuoka on Monday, according to Xi'an Xianyang International Airport.

This is the fifth air service linking Xi'an with cities in Japan, following Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Okinawa.

The flight, operated by Sichuan Airlines with an Airbus A320 aircraft, is scheduled to run four times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The flight departs Xi'an at 1:30 p.m. Beijing time and arrive in Shizuoka at 6:30 p.m. local time. The return flight leaves Shizuoka at 7:30 p.m. local time and arrive in Xi'an at 10:55 p.m. Beijing time.

Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, is home to many famous Chinese tourist attractions including the Terracotta Warriors, Bell Tower and the ancient city wall, while Shizuoka enjoys high popularity among visitors to Mount Fuji and its many hot springs.
