JAKARTA, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's most active volcano Merapi erupted again on Friday, spewing clouds of ash to the air at 1:40 a.m. local time, according to the Geological Disaster Technology Research and Development Center.
"The seismograph recorded that the eruption occurred for 106 seconds with an amplitude of 60 mm," the center's head Hanik Humaida said.
Merapi emitted more lava at 4:23 a.m. local time for 110 seconds, the head said.
The center asked people not to move to dangerous areas in a radius of 3 km from the peak of Merapi and to avoid rivers of Sungai Kuning, Boyong, Bedog, Krasak, Bebeng, and Putih that flow from the volcano.
Located in two provinces, namely Central Java and Yogyakarta, Merapi is currently at the third-highest level of alert status. Enditem
