JAKARTA, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- The number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 20,813 within one day to 3,854,354, with the death toll adding by 1,222 to 117,588, the Health Ministry said on Sunday.
During the past 24 hours, 30,361 recovered patients were discharged from hospitals, raising the total number of recoveries from the pandemic in the archipelagic country to 3,351,959, the ministry said.
Indonesia is implementing a multi-tiered community activity restriction scheme, known locally as PPKM, aiming to reduce the daily COVID-19 tally, and authorities are intensifying a contact tracing measure.
At least 28.11 million people in the country have received two shots of vaccines, and the number of those who have been injected with the first doses reached 53.68 million, the Health Ministry said. Enditem
