JAKARTA, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's National Narcotics Agency announced on Thursday that it thwarted an attempt to smuggle a total of 324.3 kg of crystal methamphetamine from Thai and East Aceh syndicates, and arrested six suspects.
The agency's Deputy for Eradication, Inspector General Arman Depari, said that in the case of the Thai syndicate, the suspects allegedly smuggled the drugs ship to ship from the waters off Southern Thailand and then took them by a boat to East Aceh district, Aceh province.
The six arrested are suspected of violating the Narcotics Law with a maximum punishment of life imprisonment or the death penalty, Depari said. Enditem
