MALE, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Maldives has achieved 90 percent of the projected tourism arrivals for 2021, state-owned PSM News citing data from the Ministry of Tourism reported here.
A total of 923,146 tourists have arrived in the Maldives between Jan. 1 and Oct. 13, Tourism Ministry data showed. This number is 76,854 short of the projected target of 1 million tourist arrivals for the year.
The Maldives would reach its target of 1 million arrivals in around 20 days.
The country is likely to surpass its target and reach 1.2 million arrivals by the end of the year.
The Maldives' main sources of tourist arrivals in 2021 are India and Russia, accounting for 23 percent and 19.4 percent of all arrivals, respectively. Enditem
