ISTANBUL, April 9 (Xinhua) -- A Turkish military trainer aircraft on Friday crashed into the Aegean Sea off Turkey's western coast, and two pilots were rescued, according to the National Defense Ministry.
The KT-1 type aircraft crashed off the coastal town of Foca in Izmir province during its regular training flight, the ministry said on Twitter.
The pilots were sent to a hospital after being pulled out of the sea and were in good health, it said, adding that an investigation has been launched into the accident.
According to preliminary reports, an engine failure of the plane occurred before the crash, the ministry noted. Enditem
