NEW YORK, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- A person was killed and four firefighters sustained minor injuries in a major fire at a six-story residential building in New York City' Queens Borough on Tuesday, according to the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY).
A penthouse structure on top of the building was damaged by the fire with partial collapse and explosion, according to the FDNY.
About 140 firefighters and ten fire trucks were sent to the venue, which is close to Elmhurst Hospital, and two buildings to the rear of the main fire structure were evacuated.
No information on the cause of the fire has been released by now and a plan would be developed to maintain structure stability and mitigate risks. Enditem
