BEIJING, Sept. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- The recently concluded 2018 Shanxi Tourism Development Conference has injected new impetus into tourism development of north China's Shanxi Province.
The conference, held in Linfen City, has become an important platform for Shanxi to showcase achievements of cultural tourism development and promote major projects.
It brought together over 600 participants from both China and abroad.
Shanxi has a history that dates back thousands of years, leaving behind a large number of cultural relics.
Geographically, it is encircled by the world famous Great Wall to the north, the legendary Taihang mountains to the east and the Yellow River to its west.
The provincial government has issued a series of regulations to develop local tourism into a strategic pillar industry in the past years.
During the 2018 Shanxi Tourism Development Conference, the province has signed 35 tourism projects, amounting to 109 billion yuan (about 15.9 billion U.S. dollars).
Datong, Jinzhong and Linfen, the three hosting cities of the tourism development conferences, have gained rare opportunities to promote the development of cultural tourism.
