BEIJING, Sept.30 (Xinhuanet) -- To give more prominence to innovation and reform while attracting more talents are two major ideas for tourism development of north China's Shanxi Province.
The ideas were suggested at a recent annual meeting of the expert consulting committee on tourism development that was held in Linfen City of Shanxi.
The event gathered together experts to share advice on how to build Shanxi into a state-level demonstration zone of integrated tourism.
Huang Zhenfang, professor from Nanjing Normal University, said Shanxi needs to break away from the traditional way of tourism development.
In his view, aside from the three renowned scenic resorts--the Yellow River, the Great Wall and the Taihang Mountains, tourism in central Shanxi should also be promoted.
With a shortage of public service facilities, construction of tourism resorts should be put on agenda, he added.
Yao Zigang, professor from East China University of Science and Technology, pointed out that the quality of staff working in the tourism industry should be enhanced.
For the purpose, the government should take measures to cultivate professionals as well as provide incentives to attract them to work in Shanxi, he noted.
To develop integrated tourism, it is necessary to do marketing, said Gou Zijun, professor from Henan University of Economics and Law, adding that Shanxi should increase efforts in stimulating the market vitality.
Shanxi has aimed to accelerate the development of featured cultural tourism through further reform, industrial transformation and upgrading.
To help realize this goal, the expert consulting committee on tourism development was established in September 2017.
Over the past year, experts and scholars have contributed much wisdom in theory research, product planning, and project construction for tourism development of the province.
