The Broadcast News Department of Xinhua is looking for three copy editors and on-camera reporters.
Xinhua News Agency is China’s official news agency as well as one of the largest news agencies in the world. The Broadcasting News Department provides quality video coverage to our clients both in China and abroad.
Information about the position is as follows:
Responsibilities:
1. Polish scripts as well as proofreading;
2. Offer suggestions on topics of stories and how to improve news writing in English;
3. Serve as on-camera moderator, host, or reporter and/or as producer on assigned productions, which will be shown on social media such as youtube, facebook and twitter;
4. Other assignments from the editorial desk such as and dubbing;
5. Based in Beijing.

1. Language skills: Native English speakers under age 60; knowledge of other languages including Chinese is desirable;
2. Professionalism: Shows pride in work and in achievements; observes deadlines; is motivated by professional rather than personal concerns; shows persistence when faced with problems or challenges; remains calm in stressful situations.
3. Teamwork: Works collaboratively with Chinese colleagues to achieve organizational goals; places team agenda before personal agenda; supports and acts in accordance with final group decision, even when such decisions may not entirely reflect own position.
4. Planning and Organizing: Develops clear goals that are consistent with agreed strategies; adjusts priorities as required; allocates appropriate amount of time and resources for completing work.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or above is required. University level courses and/or formal training/courses in journalism, graphic art, multimedia or related field is desirable.
Work Experience:
A minimum two years of experience in journalism or related fields is required. Experience in proofreading, broadcast journalism and multi-media is desirable.
Assessment:
Evaluation of qualified candidates includes a written exam which may be followed by a competency-based interview.
