Mount Lushan
(Three Cascades Waterfall)

Mount Lushan is located in the north of Jiangxi Province, with the Changjiang River flowing by just in the north and the Poyang Lake lying in the southeast . Known as "the most beautiful mountain under heaven" its scenic area covers 302 square kilometers of land, including 16 natural wonders, 474 scenic spots and 171 peaks standing on rolling mountain ranges.
Waterfalls roaring like thunder cascade down precipitous cliffs and gurgling steams meander through serene nooks. Clouds and vapor float and wrap the scenery in a blanket of mist. In the misty slopes and valleys over three thousand species of plants produce a world of green be speckled with a myriad colors while the remains of the quaternary glaciers add an air of mystery to the beauty of the mountain. A million migrant birds soar above the waters of the Poyang Lake, the largest group of cranes in the world dance between heaven and water. A really wonder sight!

Mount Lushan has a very long cultural history. There were traces of our ancestors as early as remote antiquity. Over two thousand years ago Qian Sima, historian of Western Han Dynasty, recorded the mountain in his "Records of the historian ". White Deer Cave Academy, the most important of the four ancient academies of China, enjoys fame in the history of Chinese education. East Forest Monastery, constructed by an eminent monk in Eastern Jin (317-420), is the place where the pure Land Sect of Buddhism originated. More than 1,500 famous men have ascended Mount lushan at different times in history, leaving behind 4,000 poems, 900 inscriptions on rocky cliffs, and countless paintings, calligraphy, and books. The surviving 600 villas built in unique styles and shapes exhibit the culture of 18 countries and nations.
