Ministerial Meeting

The APEC Chair, which rotates annually among members, is responsible
for hosting the annual ministerial meeting of foreign and economic
ministers. At the 1989 Canberra Ministerial Meeting, it was agreed
that it would be appropriate that every alternate ministerial meeting
be held in an ASEAN economy.
Senior Officials' Meeting -
SOM (series of meetings to prepare for the annual meetings of APEC
ministers responsible for foreign affairs and trade£¬concentrate
on economic and technical cooperation, they are chaired by the members
hosting the annual meeting.
Special Senior Officials' Meeting -- S/SOM (inaugurated
in 1995 to focus on liberalising and facilitating trade and investment,
special sessions concentrating on issues such as customs, standards,
investment principles and administrative barriers to market access.)
Committees
Committee on Trade And Investment -- (Set up in 1993, it
has focussed on customs procedures, standards and conformance, investment,
government procurement, dispute mediation, deregulation, trade impediments,
competition policy, Uruguay Round implementation and rules of origin.

Economic Committee -- EC(It has focused on analyzing trade
and investment liberalisation, infrastructure development, sustainable
development and a regional economic outlook. Canada remains as chairman.)
APEC Business Advisory Council - ABAC (The ABAC was established
in 1995 to increase business sector involvement in the APEC. the
ABAC has 54 members and reports to the annual APEC Informal Leaders'
Meeting.)
APEC Business Advisory Council's Financial Committee
APEC-Pacific Economic Forum ( a loose consultative group
aiming to promote sustainable growth in the region)
Dispute Mediation Service (proposed by APEC leaders in 1994
and a focal point of 1995 report by the APEC eminent persons group
which calls for its immediate establishment on a voluntary basis.)
Policy-Level Group on Small And Medium-Sized Enterprise
-- PLG-SME (the group aims to coordinate programs for small
and medium-sized enterprises, identified by leaders as an APEC priority
and seen as an essential element of economic development.)
