The Most Advanced City in Telecommunication

Shenzhen is the most advanced city in the field of radio communication. According to relevant statistics, the number of users of mobile phones is about 290,000 and the number of mobile phones per capita ranks the first in the whole country. The number of users of pagers is more than one million and the number of pagers per capita and using frequency ranks the first in the whole country.

The World's Largest Regional Producer of Clocks and Watches

The largest regional production center of clocks and watches in the world is in Shenzhen. The output of various clocks and watches produced in the whole reached 317.9 million in 1996, of which 286.7 million were watches. About 100 million watches are exported each year. Fyata watch is well known. As its advertisement slogan says, "Once possessed, nothing else needed".

Densest Financial Institutions and Professionals

Shenzhen is a city that has the densest financial service spots and most complete financial categories with the highest proportion of persons engaged in finance. At present, there are 61 various banks and 24 non-bank financial institutions in Shenzhen with the number of persons engaged in finance reaching 33,800.

The First Non-ferrous Metal Exchange

The nonferrous metal exchange established earliest in the country is Shenzhen Nonferrous Metal Exchange. 52 middle and large enterprises that are subsidiaries of China Nonferrous Metal Industrial Company (Head Office) jointly established association exhibition center in Shenzhen in 1986 when the development aim of nonferrous metal futures exchange had been determined. After many times of discussion and full preparation, the application of establishing nonferrous metal exchange was submitted to the government of Shenzhen City for approval in November 1990. The government officially approved the establishment of the exchange by issuing relevant document on June 10, 1991. The exchange was put into trial operation on September 23 of the same year and officially began to operate on January 18, 1992.

The Largest Bookstore - Shenzhen Book City

The modernized book center with the largest scale and most advanced equipment in China is Shenzhen Book City, which is located across Diwang Tower by Shennan Road.
